Live Nation Partners With Voto Latino to Encourage Latino Youth to Vote

(Latin Post) – On Feb. 10, entertainment company Live Nation announced they are partnering with Voto Latino to help young Latinos register to vote and get politically active for the upcoming presidential election.

The partnership will feature an online voting campaign and voting booths at concerts for Latino artists like Julieta Venegas, who will begin her “Algo Sucede” tour on Feb. 13, and Maná, who recently announced their “Latino Power” tour for September, according to Billboard.

In a statement to Billboard, the Vice President of Latin Programming and Touring for Live Nation, Manuel Moran explained the partnership.

“The Latin entertainment industry is collectively concerned about the future of the Latino communities in the U.S. and we feel we have a unique opportunity to get as many Latin artists involved in a campaign to motivate young Latinos during our live shows across the country to register to vote,” he said.

According to Maria Teresa Kumar, the President and CEO of Voto Latino, millennials will make up 44 percent of the American Latino electorate in 2016.

It is because of this that Kumar believes reaching out to youth is crucial and, while youth are the focus, the impact created by the partnership with Live Nation can go beyond youth and affect their families as well.

“We have a massive opportunity ahead of us, to engage young American Latinos who in many ways are already natural leaders within their families, helping their parents navigate complicated systems…” she told Billboard. “The last 10 years taught us that registering alone is not enough – we have to bring others with us. So we’re urging millennials to register, and then register their family and friends.”

On Instagram, Voto Latino announced they are partnering with Maná for their tour with a photo of the band at their Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
