(WJLA) – WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) – Hello. Our country experienced another terrible tragedy on Wednesday. There was a school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that left at least 17 dead and at least 15 injured. Our condolences go out to the families that lost loved ones. Our best wishes for a very speedy recovery to those who are injured.

Elected officials throughout the country have sent prayers and thoughts. But now it is time to find solutions. President Donald Trump spoke about dealing with a mental health problem in our country. That has to be addressed.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., spoke about making sure people don’t fall through the cracks. That includes the cracks in gun control laws of our country.

But I want to talk to you about security in our schools. I’m a father. I have a little boy. I want to make sure the schools he goes to are well-protected. If that means private security guards, great. If that means police, even better.

We need to make sure that our kids are kept alive, no matter what it takes.

Here’s the bottom line: our elected officials cannot sit on their heels any longer on school shootings. They have to come up with real solutions and providing security for schools has to be a huge part of that.
