A seven-time Olympian medalist and winner of eight U.S. National swimming titles, Amanda Beard is a dynamic role model inside and outside of the swimming pool. At only age 14, she won a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games"while still a student at Irvine High School in Irvine, California.Her amazing "young-teen" personality won the hearts of millions when they saw her clutching her teddy bear on the medal stand. Amanda won Olympic gold in the medley relay while capturing silver in the 100- and 200-meter breaststrokes in Atlanta.
Engaging and insightful, Amanda is a popular spokeswoman for corporate sponsors as well as for several charities she supports. She serves as a Clean Water Ambassador for the Global Water Foundation as well as actively contributing to programs for Defenders of Wildlife and WildAid.org. She is also a frequent speaker on behalf of Breast Cancer Awareness and to young swimmers about overcoming obstacles and achieving amazing goals.
