One of sport's most popular personalities and arguably the most successful manager in the history of professional baseball, Joe Torre is an icon of determination, dedication and passion.
Joe is Major League Baseball’s Executive Vice President for Baseball Operations, a position he’s held since February 2011. In this capacity, he oversees areas that include Major League Operations, On-Field Operations, On-Field Discipline and Umpiring. He serves as the Office of the Commissioner’s primary liaison to the general managers and field managers of the 30 Major League Clubs regarding all baseball and on-field matters. Since December 2009, he has served on the Commissioner’s Special Committee for On-Field Matters.
In 1996, Torre led sport's most storied franchise, the New York Yankees, to their first World Series win in 18 years and they continued to dominate baseball for the next decade. In 2008, Torre joined the Los Angeles Dodgers and led them to the division title, giving the club their first playoff series win in 20 years.
